Sandy Koufax was really special this season. You could feel the electricity in the air every time he took the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Today he was honored by his selection as the 1966 Merkle's Boner Division Cy Young Award recipient.

He started 33 games, logging 256 innings, 19 wins, 9 losses, 292 strikeouts and a 2.29 ERA. Koufax gave up 213 hits, while walking 44 and holding opponents to a .218 average.

He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Don Drysdale of the Los Angeles Dodgers finished second in voting, while Bob Veale of the Los Angeles Dodgers finished third.
